Short answer: pick Veo 3.1 when you want a low cost per second, a fixed 8-second shot, or a 4K render. Pick Seedance 2.0 when you need a clip shorter or longer than 8 seconds, a wide or square frame, or a long, detailed prompt. For Veo 3.1 vs Seedance 2.0 at 720p, AgentReel charges 15 credits for an 8-second Veo 3.1 Fast clip and 52 credits for a 5-second Seedance 2.0 clip.
Both models sit behind the same prompt box in AgentReel, and both run through the Kie.ai API. Veo 3.1 comes from Google. Seedance 2.0 comes from ByteDance. This comparison uses the parameters in the Kie API documentation and the prices AgentReel charges today. It does not use a benchmark score, because no neutral benchmark covers both models with the same prompts.

What Veo 3.1 does best

Three tiers, one price per clip
Veo 3.1 has three tiers. The Kie docs call Quality the flagship with the highest fidelity, Fast the cost-efficient variant, and Lite the most cost-effective tier for high-volume work. On AgentReel you pick the tier with the variant setting. Because every clip is 8 seconds, each tier has one price per resolution. A 720p clip costs 8 credits on Lite, 15 on Fast and 63 on Quality.
Low cost per second
The fixed 8 seconds makes Veo 3.1 cheap per second at the lower tiers. Lite at 720p works out to 1 credit per second. Fast at 720p is about 1.9 credits per second. Seedance 2.0 at its lowest setting, 480p, costs 4.8 credits per second.
4K and vertical video
Veo 3.1 renders 4K on AgentReel, and Seedance 2.0 does not (its 4K is in the Kie API only). An 8-second 4K clip costs 38 credits on Lite, 45 on Fast and 93 on Quality. The Kie docs also say that both 16:9 and 9:16 support 1080p and 4K, so vertical clips for short-form feeds keep full resolution.
Where it is limited
On AgentReel every Veo 3.1 clip is 8 seconds. You cannot ask for 5 or 15 seconds. The frame is 16:9 or 9:16 only. The prompt limit on AgentReel is 5,000 characters. The Kie docs also note that audio may be suppressed in rare cases when a scene is deemed sensitive.
What Seedance 2.0 does best

A frame from the Seedance 2.0 example video on Kie's Seedance 2.0 page.
Reference-driven video
Seedance 2.0 has three input modes, and they do not mix: first frame, first and last frame, or multimodal reference. In the Kie API the reference mode takes up to 9 images, 3 videos (2 to 15 seconds each, 15 seconds in total) and 3 audio clips. You describe in the prompt how each reference should appear. Veo 3.1 takes at most 3 reference images, and only on the Fast and Lite tiers.
Flexible length, frame and prompt
Seedance 2.0 gives you 5, 10 or 15 seconds on AgentReel, so a scene longer than 8 seconds fits in one render. It also offers 1:1, 4:3, 3:4 and 21:9, which Veo 3.1 does not. The prompt can hold 20,000 characters, four times the Veo 3.1 limit on AgentReel. That is enough for a full shot list with timing, camera notes and dialogue.
Where it costs more
Seedance 2.0 bills per second, and the rate climbs fast with resolution. On AgentReel, 5 seconds costs 24 credits at 480p, 52 at 720p and 128 at 1080p. A 15-second 1080p clip costs 383 credits. Draft at 480p, then render the keeper at a higher resolution.
Price per clip and per second on AgentReel
Veo 3.1 is always 8 seconds, so compare it with Seedance 2.0 per clip and per second.
| Model and setting | 720p | 1080p | 4K |
|---|---|---|---|
| Veo 3.1 Lite, 8 s | 8 (1.0/s) | 9 (1.1/s) | 38 (4.8/s) |
| Veo 3.1 Fast, 8 s | 15 (1.9/s) | 17 (2.1/s) | 45 (5.6/s) |
| Veo 3.1 Quality, 8 s | 63 (7.9/s) | 64 (8.0/s) | 93 (11.6/s) |
| Seedance 2.0, 5 s | 52 (10.4/s) | 128 (25.6/s) | not offered |
| Seedance 2.0, 10 s | 103 (10.3/s) | 255 (25.5/s) | not offered |
Seedance 2.0 also has a 480p setting: 24 credits for 5 seconds and 48 for 10 seconds, or 4.8 credits per second. Every row includes sound, because both models generate audio by default.
