Video Remix: break down a video, remix it for your topic
Video remix is an AI tool that breaks down a reference video you like, shows why it works with timestamps, then writes a new video of the same structure for your product, shot by shot. It reuses the structure only, never the words. Breakdowns and remixes use purchased credits.
Your breakdown appears here
Upload a short video that performs well, and AI shows its hook, structure, shots, pacing, captions and call to action. Then it writes the same kind of video for your topic.
How video remix works
- 1
Upload a reference
Pick a Reel, Short, TikTok or ad of up to 3 minutes. Your browser reads its frames and audio; the video file is never uploaded.
- 2
Get the breakdown
AI reports the hook of the first 3 seconds and why it works, the beats with timestamps, every shot, the cuts per minute, the caption style, the sound and the call to action.
- 3
Remix for your topic
Describe your topic or product. AI writes a new voiceover and a shot-by-shot storyboard with the same structure, rhythm and style.
- 4
Make the video
Send the result to Code to Video, the AI Video Ad Generator or the B-roll Cut. The tool opens with your script filled in.
What people use it for
Copy a format, not the content
See exactly how a competitor's best video is built, and reuse the structure with your own words and product.
Fix weak hooks
Compare the first 3 seconds of a video that holds attention with yours, and get a hook built the same way.
Brief an editor
Hand an editor a shot list with sizes, camera moves, on-screen text and timings instead of "make it like this one".
Plan a series
Break down one video that works and remix it for many topics, so every episode keeps the same rhythm.

How to remix a video that works
What video remix is
Video remix is a two-step AI tool for short-form video. First it breaks down a reference video you like, up to 3 minutes long: the hook, the beats, the pacing, the shot sizes, the captions and the call to action, each with a timestamp. Then it writes a new script with the same structure for your own product or topic, shot by shot.
Your browser reads still frames and the audio track from the file, and only those are sent for the breakdown; the video itself is not uploaded.
Why a breakdown comes first
A video that performs well is rarely luck. Its hook makes a promise in the first 3 seconds, its beats keep that promise in a fixed order, and its cuts arrive at a steady rhythm. When you copy only the topic, you lose all of that.
The breakdown names each part with a timestamp, so you can see what to reuse: the kind of hook, the order of the beats, the cuts per minute, the shot sizes, the caption style and the call to action.
Remix the structure, never the words
The remix keeps the skeleton of the reference and writes every line new for your topic. It never copies the reference's words, claims, brand or people, and it never invents facts about your product that you did not give.
Add notes about your audience, tone or a line you must say, and the script follows them.
From script to finished video
Pick the tool that fits the video. Code to Video builds motion graphics from the storyboard. The AI Video Ad Generator makes AI shots and a voiceover for a product ad. The B-roll Cut cuts your own footage to the voiceover.
Costs and limits
A breakdown costs 13 purchased credits and a remix costs 13 purchased credits. Video remix does not use free credits. If a step fails, its credits are refunded. The finished video is made in another tool, which charges its own credits.
The reference can be up to 3 minutes long, which covers Reels, Shorts, TikToks and most ads. Links from YouTube or TikTok are not accepted yet: upload a file that you have the rights to view.
A worked example
Say a competitor's 40-second Reel opens with a bold claim, shows three quick before-and-after shots and ends with a discount code. The breakdown marks the claim in the first 3 seconds, the three proof beats with their timestamps, the cut rhythm and the closing call to action.
The remix then writes your own version: a new claim about your product, three proof beats built from the facts you give, and your own call to action, in the same order and at the same pace. No line of the original is reused.
