Map Route Animation Maker: Your Trip on a World Map
This map route animation maker turns a list of two to eight stops into a travel map video. A world map zooms in to your route, each leg draws from city to city while a plane, car, train or boat rides along it, and every stop gets a pin and its name. AI writes the stops and coordinates for free, and you render an MP4 in 9:16, 16:9 or 1:1.

A Map Route Animation in Three Acts
Every video follows the same clear story. It opens on a world map with your trip title at the top, and in the first 3 seconds the camera flies in until the whole route fills the frame. Then the route draws one leg at a time: the line grows from the current stop toward the next, the travel marker rides on the tip of the line, and when it arrives a pin pops with the place name. A bar at the bottom names the current leg, such as Lisbon to Madrid, and a row of dots under the title fills in as you reach each stop. The last 2.5 seconds are an end card that lists every stop in order, so viewers can read the whole trip at a glance. The camera drifts gently toward each leg, which keeps the map alive without losing the rest of the route.
Plane, Car, Train or Boat
Pick how the trip travels and the map route animation adapts. A plane flies a soft arc that bows to the north, the way flight paths look on a map, and the plane icon turns to follow the curve. A car, a train or a boat travels in straight lines between stops and always faces the way it moves. Long trips take the short way: a flight from San Francisco to Tokyo crosses the Pacific instead of the whole map, because the map repeats past its edges. Choose 2 to 5 seconds per leg in steps of half a second. Three seconds per leg suits most trips; a faster pace works for routes with many short hops, and a slower pace gives long flights more room to breathe.
Stops That Land in the Right Place
Each stop is a place name of up to 24 characters with its latitude and longitude. You do not need to look up coordinates: describe the trip in the brief and Write with AI writes the stops in travel order with their coordinates, for free within a daily limit. As a second safety net, the travel map video knows more than 240 major cities and capitals, so a stop named Paris, Tokyo or Sao Paulo always lands exactly on the city, even if the coordinates were a little off. Smaller places such as islands, parks or villages keep the coordinates you or the AI wrote, so check them once. The map itself is a simplified world outline from Natural Earth, bundled with the template, so nothing loads from a map service while your video renders.
Three Map Styles and Your Route Color
The dark style puts a bright route on a deep navy map, made for night-mode feeds and travel reels. The light style is a clean white map on soft blue water for websites and guides. The paper style looks like an old printed atlas, with warm sand land and fine grid lines, which suits travel diaries and history stories. One accent color paints the route, the pins, the marker and the end card numbers. All three styles work in every frame: 9:16 keeps the title above and the leg bar below the map, while 16:9 and 1:1 give the route more width. A free frame check renders stills across the video and shortens a title that would not fit before you spend any credits.
How to Make a Map Route Animation in 3 Steps
- 1
Describe your trip
Write one or two sentences about the journey, such as ten days by train from Lisbon to Berlin, and pick 9:16, 16:9 or 1:1. Sign in first, because writing with AI and rendering both need a free account.
- 2
Let the map route animation maker write the stops
Press Write with AI. It writes the title, two to eight stops in travel order with their coordinates, and the travel mode, all for free. Edit any stop, reorder the list, or change the mode and the seconds per leg. The frame check then previews the stills so every label fits. Browse the other AI video templates for more social formats.
- 3
Render the travel map video
Pick a map style and a route color, then render the MP4. A five-stop trip at 3 seconds per leg runs 17.5 seconds and costs about 10 credits. The finished video stays in your history, ready to download again.
What Can You Make with a Map Route Animation?
Travel Reels and Vlogs
Open a trip recap with the route, then cut to your clips from each stop. A vertical map route animation works as the first scene of a reel and tells viewers where the story goes in a few seconds. Pair it with an image slideshow of your photos.
Tour and Itinerary Promos
Travel agencies, tour operators and hotels can show a full itinerary in one short video: the cities, the order and how guests travel between them. Use the 16:9 frame on a booking page and the 9:16 frame for ads. Only show routes you really offer.
Road Trips and Expeditions
Plan a road trip in public, announce an expedition or recap a cycling tour with the car or train marker. Followers love to see the whole route before the first episode. Post the same route again at the end with the stops you actually reached.
History and Explainer Videos
Trace a famous voyage, a migration or a supply chain across the world with the paper style. A map route animation makes distances and order easy to follow, and the end card repeats every stop for viewers who joined late.
