Competitor Comparison

Short answer: Pick AgentReel if you want one prompt box for many video and image models, plus tools that turn clips into finished posts, ads, carousels and lyric videos. Pick Runway if your main job is editing footage you already shot with its Aleph 2.0 model, or if you want Runway's own Gen-4.5 model with team plans. At the entry level, AgentReel Starter costs $15.99 a month for 200 AgentReel credits (pricing, as of 2026-10-24). Runway Standard costs $15 a month for 625 Runway credits (source). The two credit units are not the same, so compare what each credit buys, not the count.

We built this comparison from AgentReel's own product and price data, Runway's product pages and developer docs, and recent articles that read Runway's pricing page in September and October 2026. We did not run test renders or use benchmark scores. Every Runway claim links to the page it came from.

AgentReel

AgentReel is a browser-based studio for short-form visual content. It gives you one prompt box, many models, and tools that build finished posts.

Many video and image models behind one prompt box

The AI video generator does text-to-video and image-to-video with every video model on the site. That list has 20 models, among them Veo 3.1, Seedance 2.5, Kling 3.0, Wan 3.0, MiniMax H3, Vidu Q4 and Runway. The AI image generator covers 20 image models, such as Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst, Seedream 5.0 Pro and Flux 2 Pro.

Tools that build finished posts

The AI video ad generator builds video ads with a script, voice-over, clips and captions. The TikTok carousel tool makes photo carousels. B-roll cut cuts B-roll to a voice-over, and the lyric video maker turns a song into a lyric video. There are also ready-made video templates and a set of single-purpose image tools.

Clear credit rules

Every tool shows its credit price before a job starts. A failed job refunds its credits automatically. You can buy a plan or one-time credit packs.

Runway

Runway builds its own video models and offers them in a web app and an API. It also has image generation, editing, upscaling and audio tools (The Rundown).

Gen-4.5 for new clips

Runway calls Gen-4.5 its most advanced video model, with better motion quality, prompt adherence and temporal consistency. That page is dated December 1, 2025, and says the model is available on all paid plans. In the app, Gen-4.5 makes clips of two to ten seconds at 720p and costs 12 credits per second (Magic Hour).

Aleph 2.0 for editing footage you already have

Aleph 2.0 is a model that edits video in context. You edit one frame or describe a change in plain language. It then updates the rest of the video and keeps what you did not ask to change. Runway says it now supports longer clips and multi-shot sequences. Runway's AI video editor uses Aleph 2.0 to change backdrops, restyle footage, swap products and update lighting. It works on real and AI-generated clips, including across cuts. Aleph 2.0 accepts up to 30 seconds of footage (Fuser).

Other models, teams and an API

Runway's pricing page also lists Veo 3.1 at 40 credits per second with audio and Kling 3.0 Pro at 17 credits per second with audio (camclo3d). The Max plan adds HDR and ProRes output and early access to new models. A Team plan offers pooled credits and a shared workspace for 2 to 9 seats (both from camclo3d). Developers can use a separate API. Runway's docs list per-second rates for models such as Kling 3.0 and Wan 3. API credits cost $0.01 each and are separate from app credits (Melies).

Price comparison

AgentReel prices are in AgentReel credits, taken from the AgentReel pricing page on 2026-10-24. Runway prices come from articles that read Runway's pricing page in September and October 2026 (Justin McKelvey, camclo3d).

Which one should you choose?

  • You want many video and image models in one place: AgentReel. You get 20 video and 20 image models behind one prompt box, including a Runway model.
  • You want finished short-form posts, not only clips: AgentReel, with its ad generator, TikTok carousels, B-roll cut, lyric videos and templates.
  • You want to buy credits once without a plan: AgentReel sells one-time packs from 100 credits.
  • You want to edit footage you already shot: Runway. Aleph 2.0 changes parts of a real clip and keeps the rest.
  • You work in a team that shares a workspace: Runway, with its Team plan and pooled credits.
  • You build apps on top of video models: Runway, with its developer API.

To compare two of the video models side by side, read Veo 3.1 vs Seedance 2.5. If you are still weighing other creator tools, our AgentReel vs Higgsfield post uses the same method.

FAQ

Can I use a Runway model inside AgentReel?

Yes. Runway is one of the 20 video models in the AgentReel video generator. You pay in AgentReel credits, and the tool shows the price before the job starts.

Which tool is better for editing video I already filmed?

Runway is the better pick for this. Its Aleph 2.0 model edits real footage from a prompt or one edited frame. AgentReel's B-roll cut tool cuts B-roll to a voice-over. It does not change what is inside a shot.

Are AgentReel credits and Runway credits worth the same?

No. Each tool prices its models in its own credits. On Runway, Gen-4.5 costs 12 credits per second (Magic Hour). AgentReel shows each job's credit price in the tool before you start.

Can I try either tool without paying?

On AgentReel, models other than Z-Image need a credit purchase. Runway lists a Free plan with 125 one-time credits and watermarked videos (Magic Hour). Gen-4.5 on Runway needs Standard or higher (Magic Hour).

What happens if a render fails?

On AgentReel, a failed job refunds its credits automatically. The Runway pages we read did not state a refund rule for failed generations.
