Competitor Comparison

Short answer: Pick AgentReel if you want MiniMax H3 and Hailuo 2.3 alongside Veo 3.1, Kling, Seedance and other video models. AgentReel also has tools that turn clips into finished ads, carousels and lyric videos. Pick Hailuo AI if you mainly want MiniMax's own models, its photo templates and its Video Agent canvas, straight from the source. AgentReel's Starter plan costs $15.99 a month for 200 AgentReel credits (as of 2026-11-03, see pricing). Hailuo AI's Standard plan was $10.50 a month for 1,000 Hailuo credits on 29 October 2026, according to Aliteq. The two credit systems use different units, so compare cost per clip, not credit counts.

We used only public pages for this comparison. For Hailuo AI, we read its own site at hailuoai.video, its Hailuo 2.3 and Video Agent pages, MiniMax's Hailuo 2.3 launch post and the Hailuo app's App Store listing. We could not find Hailuo's live pricing page, so the plan prices come from third-party snapshots dated September and October 2026, and we link each one. For AgentReel, we used AgentReel's own product and pricing data. We ran no tests, and we quote no benchmark scores or quality rankings.

AgentReel

AgentReel is a browser-based AI studio for short-form visual content. It puts one prompt box in front of many image and video models. It also has tools that build finished posts.

MiniMax models next to every other major video model

AgentReel runs MiniMax H3 and Hailuo 2.3, the same model families Hailuo AI is built on. They sit in the same AI video generator as Veo 3.1, Seedance 2.5, Kling 4.0, Kling 3.0, Kling 3.0 Omni, Gemini Omni Video, Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash, Seedance 2.0, Wan 3.0, Wan 3.0 Prime, Runway, Kling 3.0 Turbo, Seedance 2.0 Fast, PixVerse V6, HappyHorse 1.1, Vidu Q4, Wan 2.7, Grok Imagine Video 1.5 and Grok Imagine Video. That makes 21 video models for text-to-video and image-to-video.

This helps when one model doesn't suit a shot. You can run a prompt on MiniMax H3 and then run the same prompt on Veo 3.1 or Kling 4.0. You don't need a second account or a second subscription.

Tools that turn clips into finished posts

A clip often isn't the end product. AgentReel has tools for the next step:

Image models in the same workspace

The AI image generator handles text-to-image and image editing with 21 image models. These include Nano Banana Pro, Nano Banana 2.1, GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst, Seedream 5.0 Pro, Flux 2 Pro, Ideogram V3 and Imagen 4. You can make a first frame with an image model and then animate it with MiniMax H3 in the same place. There are also single-purpose image tools.

Every AgentReel tool shows its credit price before a job starts. If a job fails, its credits are refunded automatically.

Hailuo AI

Hailuo AI is MiniMax's own video app, and its official site is hailuoai.video (Aliteq). Go here if you want MiniMax's models straight from the company that makes them.

MiniMax's own models, first

Hailuo 2.3 supports text-to-video and image-to-video. Hailuo 2.3 Fast supports image-to-video only for now (Hailuo 2.3 page). MiniMax says Hailuo 2.3 improves physical actions, stylization and character micro-expressions. It also says the model handles anime, illustration, ink wash and game CG styles better (MiniMax news). According to MiniMax, the Fast model cuts batch creation costs by up to 50% (MiniMax news).

Hailuo AI also has the newer MiniMax H3 (Anijam). H3 came out on July 31, 2026. It makes up to 15 seconds of 2K video with stereo sound, multi-shot scenes and dialogue in 11 languages (Renderforest). Paid Hailuo plans also list access to Veo 3.1 and Sora 2 (Aliteq).

Clear per-clip credit costs for Hailuo 2.3

Hailuo publishes simple clip prices for Hailuo 2.3 (Hailuo 2.3 page):

  • 25 credits for a 6-second 768p clip
  • 50 credits for a 10-second 768p clip
  • 50 credits for a 6-second 1080p clip

That makes budgeting easy if you stick with that model. Failed generations do not cost credits (Framesurfer).

Photo templates, a Video Agent and an iOS app

The Hailuo home page has photo-to-video templates. For example, you can upload a photo to make a skydiving or Formula racing video (hailuoai.video). The Hailuo Video Agent adds a workflow canvas where you chain generation nodes and preview results in real time (Video Agent page). MiniMax's Hailuo 2.3 launch post also describes a "one-click video generation" feature (MiniMax news). For phone and iPad work, the Hailuo AI app on the App Store does text-to-video and image-to-video (App Store).

Limits to know

Free and Standard plans run one task at a time. Pro and higher run two (Framesurfer). Ten-second Hailuo 2.3 clips need the Pro plan or higher (Framesurfer). Clips top out at 15 seconds, so Hailuo isn't built for long continuous scenes (Anijam).

An AgentReel credit and a Hailuo credit are different units. On AgentReel, each model has its own credit price. You can see it on the models page and before every job starts. On Hailuo, a 6-second 768p Hailuo 2.3 clip costs 25 credits (Hailuo 2.3 page). Compare what the clips you'll actually make would cost on each.
